Deja Brown,
Graduate Student & Research Assistant | MHSA ’27

Deja Brown joined the Center for Augmenting Intelligence (CAI) in September 2025 while pursuing her Master of Health Services Administration at the University of Detroit Mercy. As Program Coordinator for CAI’s AI Train-the-Trainer Program, she played a key role in organizing enrollment, coordinating logistics, managing communications, supporting faculty, and ensuring participants had full access to program materials and resources.

Deja was drawn to CAI’s mission because it blends her passions for community impact and technology-driven problem-solving. She views AI as a powerful resource for addressing real-world issues such as urban health disparities and education gaps. Her proudest accomplishment at CAI was successfully completing the Train-the-Trainer Program and seeing its impact on the community.

During her time with CAI, Deja strengthened her communication, program management, and AI literacy skills, gained experience with grant writing and evaluation surveys, and built meaningful professional relationships. She also overcame imposter syndrome by staying organized, breaking tasks into manageable steps, and seeking clarity when needed.

Looking ahead, Deja plans to integrate AI into her future work in healthcare, using it to find efficient, innovative solutions.

She believes:

“AI literacy is important today because it is the tomorrow of the world.”

One takeaway she offers future CAI collaborators:

“Be willing to do something you’ve never done before.”

Fun fact: She can say the alphabet backwards.
