The Collaborative’s work is carried out by three working groups made up of community members and nonprofit partners, guided by a shared Leadership Council. The groups coordinate closely — none operates on its own — and every proposed tool or development goes through an agreed approval decision matrix.
Residents and organizations interested in joining a working group, or in proposing a community need, can connect through the DAIHEC website (daihec.org).
The Leadership Council holds shared decision-making authority for the Collaborative. It approves governance frameworks, reviews and adopts working-group deliverables, and keeps the work aligned with the Collaborative’s values and community commitments. Each founding partner is represented, along with the working-group co-leads and community members in an advisory role. The Council meets monthly at rotating community locations.
Sets the rules of the road for the Collaborative: decision rights, accountability, ethics, privacy standards and community-defined guardrails. The group drafts the standard operating procedures all working groups follow, shares them with the wider Collaborative for response, and is developing the Collaborative’s AI governance framework and shared glossary of terms.
Co-designs a practical, equitable and sustainable way for partners and residents to use trustworthy AI tools. “Our task is not to build a portal full of AI tools. Our task is to create a trusted community AI utility that solves real problems.” The group is responsible for understanding needs, prioritizing them, designing tools, keeping them safe and making them sustainable, using the eight-step model for every tool.
Connects the Collaborative with residents and partners. The group leads community outreach and messaging, shares Governance decisions and new tools with the community in plain language, and brings community feedback back to the other working groups.
